Wheel Bearings
Properly preloaded wheel bearings can last a lifetime. Keep them clean and lubed and they may just last forever.
Steering Bearings
Stearing bearings should be cleaned, relubed, and adjusted every other season. This rarely happens so they often get the point of needing complete replacement. For Slash 2 bikes there is a tapered roller bearing upgrade available.
No crazy welding tricks or cutting out the races. Steering bearing srevice is done with the correct Kukko puller.

Of course the Earles fork bike has double the bearings….but the situation is he same. They need regular cleaning, relubing, and resealing to get the most out of them. When they need to be replaced we can do that too. Key to a long life is correct preloading once installed.
