Cylinder Boring and Re-plating

Cylinder over-bores are commonly needed when deep servicing a high mileage pre-nikasil BMW motorcycle. Don’t trust this to an automotive machine shop! Although they CAN do it right, they probably won’t. Air Support BMW will precision bore and hone your cylinders to the correct factory specifications.

Unless you supply your own parts, we can source new high quality pistons and will check the piston ring end gaps before final installation.

All boring and honing is done in house to BMW specifications using TORQUE PLATES and professional SUNNEN equipment.

Vapor blasting of the exterior surface is optional.
Standard low pressure media blast is also optional.
De-greased but undisturbed patina is standard.

For post 1981 Nikasil cylinders we offer a re-plating service to restore the piston clearance back to factory spec. This is also handy when fitting custom pistons as the clearance can be modified to suit.
